EAT + DRINK

The Laughing Heart

Set in a modern, minimalist space with low hung lights, The Laughing Heart is the perfect late night hangout on Hackney Road for any local or newcomer to the neighbourhood. The “cool” wine bar known for its natural and risk-taking wine list offers small dishes and lite bites from house sourdough with brown crab butter, datterini tomatoes, goat’s curd & sea lettuce, to speckle faced mutton tortellini & broad beans. The chill vibes and spacious setting make it an easy visit for a casual weeknight dinner or date spot. 

Palomar

Located in Central London, Palomar’s modern day take on Jerusalem cuisine sees a menu influenced by Southern Spain, North Africa and the Levant, featuring dishes such as beetroot carpaccio served with burnt goat cheese, octopus and hummus dip, and shakshukit served in a pan with minced beef + lamb, yogurt + tahini. Sit in the large navy leather booths or by the bustling bar for an easy meal of share plates, great music and good vibes.

Caravan’s all day dining options make it an easy option for a bite or brew, with craft coffee roasted on site and unique breakfast menu, to an evening bar serving drinks and small dishes. Try the golden spiced yoghurt ft. poached quince, maple sesame oat granola + banana cashew butter, or charred hispi cabbage with sweet miso, blue cheese + thai basil. Set in an airy, laid back space, here’s a spot you’re guaranteed a good time in great company.

The Goodhood Store

Alex Eagle Studio

Owner and Creative Director Alex Eagle opened this 360 degree take on retail in 2014 to bring the gallery like shop to the heart of London’s Soho. You’ll find a hand selection of fashion, furniture, art, design, photography, ceramics and rare books. The inviting space + creative hub feels like a private home and is the perfect place to hang, feeding your creative side with the curated and constantly evolving shop floors offerings.

Shacklewell Arms

East London has become a popular location for young creatives and in the area lives Shacklewell Arms, one of many musically inclined pubs. You’ll find a mix of unknown, up-and-coming + buzzing artists here featuring indie bands and the like. Expect to become friendly with your neighbours given the venue gets crowded, but don’t worry, the atmosphere and intimate setting makes up for the cozy performance.


Tate Modern

The Tate Modern doesn't disappoint. With a mission to increase your enjoyment and understanding of British art, the gallery showcases works from the 16th century to today + an array of international modern and contemporary art. Housed in a huge renovated power station, you’ll find paintings and sculptures by the likes of Picasso, Dali, Warhol, and Rothko, all set off perfectly by the gritty industrial interior.

 

Newport City Gallery

Split over two levels with one ceiling reaching a height of 11 meters, this free exhibition showcases the works of Damien Hirst’s art collection in the renovated Victorian scenery-painting studio. Exhibitions vary between solo and group shows with interior highlights including the white tiled spiral staircase and a restaurant-cum-art installation, Pharmacy 2. 


SWEAT

BXR isn’t for the faint hearted and will put you through a state of the art intense 45 minute boxing workout. The members only club features the latest tech in fitness equipment, boxing and athletic training. While the studio is built for high level professional boxing training, they now offer the Sweatboxworkout where you can join group classes to power through rounds of boxing + floor work drills all paired with hip hop and RnB vibes - just don’t come here hungover.
